Doctor's Confession

I want to give credit where credit is due.  So, perhaps a confession can help clear the air so there is no misunderstanding.  Before I talk about my confession though, let me say a few other things first.

Let me start by explaining the photo in this letter.  You know, when I meet people in town they usually say, "Oh, yeah, I know you, you're Dr. Rick. How are your three cute children Nora, Liam & Luke."  Well, I'm the guy with the hat next to my beautiful family.

Years ago something happened to me that changed my life forever.  Let me tell you my story:
When I was a rugby player in college, I was injured while making a tackle at practice. My lower back pain was instant.  I couldn't move very well. The everyday things I did daily weren't taken for granted anymore.  I couldn't even sleep through the night.

The next day I saw a Chiropractor.  I remember being nervous because I was in such pain.  At this point I was willing to try anything!  Well I went: the Chiropractor did an exam, took some films and "adjusted" my spine.  I had fifty percent relief instantly.  I went to the Chiropractor for the next couple of weeks and was adjusted and had one hundred percent relief.  The adjustments worked!  To my amazement, they actually felt good.  I got relief and was out playing Rugby again in no time.

I kept going to the Chiropractor, especially during rugby season.  My back was so healthy I continued playing rugby, and staying active.  I eventually became a Chiropractor myself.

It's strange how life leads us where we are supposed to be because now people come to see me for help with their low back pain.  They also come to me with their headaches, migraines, back pain, neck pain, whiplash from car accidents, numbness in limbs, athletic injuries, and pregnancy just to name a few.

Several times a day, patients thank me for helping them with their health problems.  But I can't really take the credit for their health.

My confession is that I've never healed anyone of anything.  What I do is perform a specific spinal adjustment to remove nerve pressure, and the body responds by healing itself.  We get tremendous results.  It's as simple as that!

My qualifications: I am a graduate of the University of Maryland and Palmer College of Chiropractic.  I've been entrusted to take care of tiny babies to pro athletes, the physically and mentally challenged to centenarians. I've had the honor of being a team Chiropractor of the semi-pro Rockford Icehogs ice-hockey team and the Rockford Ravens Rugby football team, both in Illinois.  After practicing in Rockford for two years, I moved to practice at Lake Monticello, and I've been here for fourteen years in November.

My wife & assistant is Kiera and she is a really great person.  Our office is both friendly and warm - we do our best to make you feel at home.  We look forward to helping you.  Lake Chiropractic is located at 9 Centre' Court (near Fluvanna's only stoplight).  Our number is (434) 589-8005. Call Kiera today for an appointment. We can help you.
Thank you,

Dr. Rick Wells
